I'll be out at one of the city parks tomorrow grilling for my wife and some of her employees and would like to carry. I was perusing the Fort Smith Parks website and checked out their regulations page. On the regulations page it states that firearms/weapons are prohibited. Does this include CHCL holders? I sent the city an e-mail asking this question, but no one had gotten back to me.
The link to the regulations page is below...

It IS against the law to carry in Fort Smith city parks. I suggest you go to Ben Geren if you want to be able to defend yourself with a firearm. |

Thanks arkyhog. The choice of where it's held is not up to me. I guess I'll leave it at home. |

I would remember this choice you had to make when it comes time to vote. In fact, I would write your state senator and your state representative now and let them know how disgusted you are that you can't carry a firearm to defend yourself today. It would take as long as it took to post and read these replies. |

I make it a point to write my elected officials. They're definitely getting a letter from me. |

Yeller, I'm not sure whether your Representative or Senator has been term-limited or not. You might write them an email and ask them if they are or not, and if they are not tell them you would like to see the law changed. It is a State law, and can only be changed by the legislature.
Arkansas Carry WILL be making this an issue with the upcoming elections in 2010.
Now... if you would like to carry anyway and take the chance of getting arrested... it IS your right to carry a firearm under the Second Amendment and the Constitution of the State of Arkansas... |
